· Appointed as a Legal Counsel in an arbitration case representing a Jordanian company (ranked as the eighth largest company worldwide in its sector by volume of production) in its dispute with a Chinese contractor, related to design, supply & construction of steam & power generation plant, a project valued at over US$ 30 million
· Appointed as a Legal Counsel in an arbitration case representing a major Korean contractor (international joint venture) in its dispute with Jordanian governmental entity related to the Design-Build Project of Wastewater Treatment Plant in Jordan, a project valued at over US$ 40 million
· The Government of Dubai–RTA as legal expert leading the Procurement Arbitration Team with regard to ad hoc and institutional arbitrations
· The Government of Dubai –representing RTA in one of the largest disputes in the UAE (infrastructure dispute) with a claim of over US$ 500 million
· Counselling 20 arbitration cases related to a major UAE property developer on ADCCAC-based arbitration in Abu Dhabi
· Counselling 10 arbitration cases related to construction dispute in UAE on ICC-based arbitration
· Counselling an international joint venture contractor in relation to a FIDIC-based contract, providing specific advice on arbitration procedures
· Counselling a developer with respect to a claim valued at US$ 90 million arising out of a development on Reem Island, Abu Dhabi/UAE
· Counselling a major Italian contractor on its rights and obligations in a contract worth US$ 80 million in relation to the suspension and subsequent termination of its services for non-payment for the construction works
· Counselling a mechanical and electrical contractor in a dispute related to delays incurred on a hospital project in Umm Al Quwain/UAE
Dr. Haddadin specializes in disputes arising out of significant construction and infrastructure projects in the UAE, Jordan, and the wider Middle East. He works seamlessly with our front-end construction experts. He is familiar with the issues arising out of complex construction disputes, including extensions of time, prolongation costs, and variations. Dr. Haddadin acted for employers and contractors, so he knows the strategies and tactics that are deployed from multiple perspectives.
He has in-depth construction sector knowledge, and he has a deep understanding of all forms of internationally accepted constructions documentation, having worked on projects from feasibility through to execution.
Dr. Haddadin handles disputes for private individuals, corporate entities, governmental entities, and states. He has a deep-rooted understanding of most of the arbitral rules that apply to these types of arbitrations. His focus is on insurance coverage, a broad spectrum of commercial and corporate matters (including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and venture capital investments), capital markets, banking and finance, and real estate.
Dr. Haddadin advises clients on all aspects of launching proceedings against a state or defending a state against proceedings under the ICSID rules, as well as arbitration cases under other rules, such as the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules and ad hoc investor–state and state–state cases.
He offers a genuinely international reach combined with the local know-how of our integrated practice platform, industry sector experience, and investor–state arbitration. He has experience in matters involving bilateral investment treaties and multilateral investment treaties, in addition to the Energy Charter Treaty.
